Keswick 600 x 1010mm Cast Iron Style Traditional 2 Column White Radiator

Beautiful radiator

26th January 2025

Had this radiator installed and I can’t fault it. It looks just like the image, is sturdy and gives our hall the wow factor. We live in a modern house so we were worried it would look a bit old fashioned but it actually elevates the space. Great value for money and would recommend. Arrived quickly and there was clear communication throughout the order process.

Keswick 600 x 1010mm Cast Iron Style Traditional 3 Column Anthracite Radiator

Good Quality, nice addition to the room.

22nd January 2025

Good quality, nice addition to the room, found I had to use liquid PTFE rather than PTFE tape, because threads on the radiators were more on the loose side and not very deep when screwing the valves in.

FAQ's

If you're looking to redesign the heating system in your home and would like to go for classic styling, then column radiators may be just what you're looking for. Column radiators are hollow tubed radiators made from cast iron or mild steel, able to add texture and character to your space. But how do they work and what are their benefits?

How do column radiators work?

Column radiators are integrated into a network of pipes connected to a central heating boiler, just like standard radiators. The boiler heats water to a specific temperature, which is then propelled through the pipes, into the radiator, and subsequently returned to the boiler for reheating. Hot water circulates within the radiator's columns, warming them and the nearby air. This process generates a convection current, evenly distributing heat across the room.

What are the benefits of having column radiators?

Panel radiators are most common in homes across the UK. However, column radiators should not be overlooked. Their robust style and large surface area allows for excellent energy efficient heating.

While they are often associated with traditional interior design, column radiators are an excellent choice for both modern and traditional rooms alike. The elegant columns featured in column radiators come in horizontal and vertical shapes and many colours to suit yhour space. They're also great space savers, as many can be wall mounted.

How good are column radiators at emitting heat?

Vintage build column radiators can offer even the tallest of rooms a high heat output rate. When compared to panel radiators, column radiators have been found to emit a greater amount of heat from the main body. The larger surface area makes column radiators superior in heating rooms faster, without using up more energy.

Do column radiators take longer to heat up?

No, column radiators tend to heat up faster than panel radiators. Their larger surface area helps distribute heat more effectively, warming a room more quickly. The design of column radiators, with fins between the columns, also helps to circulate air and speed up heating. Additionally, newer models made from aluminum or steel heat up and cool down faster than older cast iron radiators.

Do column radiators cost more to run?

Column radiators are generally more cost-efficient to run over time, even though they may have a higher upfront cost. Their larger surface area and efficient design allow them to heat a room faster with the same amount of energy. Traditional radiators, on the other hand, may have a lower initial cost but tend to consume more energy over time.

Is there any difference between a 2 column and 3 column radiator?

Yes. Double column radiators feature two long panels, whereas triple column radiators have three long panels. The more columns your radiator has, the bigger it will be, and the bigger your radiator, the more heat it will dispense.
