FAQ's
Chevron tiles add instant movement, depth and a touch of designer flair. They’re bold and elegant but also more versatile than you might think. Whether you're planning a standout floor, a striking shower wall or a subtle textured look in a neutral room, they're a great choice. Here's what you need to know to choose the right style and lay them with confidence.
What is a chevron tile?
Chevron tiles are cut at precise angles so they form a continuous V-shape when laid. That zig-zag effect is what gives them their signature flow and structure. They’re often confused with herringbone tiles but they’re not the same:
- Herringbone uses standard rectangular tiles laid in a staggered pattern.
- Chevron tiles are angled to meet perfectly point-to-point, creating a smoother look.
The result is a layout that feels clean, rhythmic and full of energy.
Are chevron tiles still in style?
Definitely, and they’ve got staying power. Chevron has been around for centuries in classic European design but it still feels fresh today thanks to its sharp lines and versatility.
Here's just a few reason why chevron tiles work so well:
- Wood effect chevron tiles add warmth and vintage charm
- Stone or concrete looks give it a more architectural edge
- Glossy ceramic finishes reflect light beautifully and add subtle texture
It’s a design that feels timeless without looking traditional, which is why it's still a popular choice for interiors that want a bit of polish and personality.
Are chevron tiles hard to install?
They do need a bit of precision but they’re more manageable than they seem. You’ve got a few options depending on your space and skill level:
- Individual chevron tiles. These are the most flexible option and are great for feature walls and high end finishes. However, they are best laid by a tiler with an eye for detail.
- Pre-mounted chevron sheets. With this option, the pattern is pre-set, so it’s quicker to install.
- Chevron effect LVT flooring or large panels. These are the easiest option, especially for DIY installations. They're ideal for larger floor spaces or quick makeovers.
Go for matching or mid-tone grout if you want the pattern to feel soft and blended. For something bolder, contrast grout will really emphasise the V-shape.
