What are rectified tiles?

Rectified tiles are tiles that have been mechanically trimmed after firing, so every edge is perfectly straight and dimensions are consistent. The result is tighter grout joints (usually 2 to 3mm) and a clean look you can’t get from cushioned or uneven edges.

Do rectified tiles work best on walls or floors?

Both. Use 300 by 600mm rectified tiles on walls for a grid-like layout. Go for 600 by 600mm or 600 by 1200mm tiles on floors to get that expansive feel. In small rooms, the precision edges help the space feel more open. In large rooms, they create an architectural vibe.

Are rectified tiles harder to install?

They’re less forgiving than standard tiles, so preparation is key:

Make sure your surface is level. A self-levelling compound can help.
For large format tiles, use levelling clips and a large trowel.
Cover the back of each tile to ensure full coverage.
Dry-lay first to plan your layout and avoid awkward cuts at doors or corners.

Do rectified tiles need special grout?
