Slate Effect Tiles
Slate Effect Tiles
Slate has long been loved for its rugged texture and natural variation but it’s not always the easiest stone to work with. Our slate effect tiles capture all that raw beauty while giving you the benefits of durable porcelain and ceramic. You get the layered look and rustic charm of natural slate without the need for sealing or heavy upkeep.
Ideal for bathrooms and kitchens, keep things cool and contemporary with grey slate effect tiles or lean into earthy tones with rustic browns and warm beiges. For outdoor spaces, natural grey and deep charcoal shades are great for garden and patio areas, making your living space feel beautifully balanced inside and out.
You’ll also find plenty of choice in terms of formats, finishes and textures within our selection of slate effect tiles. Split face tiles add striking 3D texture, making them perfect for feature walls and fireplaces. Rustic styles work brilliantly for staggered layouts, while large format outdoor slabs are built for patios and pathways.

Stunning tiles
18th March 2026These tiles needed to be non slip for a wet room floor . They are excellent in every way . Beautiful strong and very attractive I have multiple sclerosis and wanted non slip . These are everything I could wish for I needed dark because I didn’t want endless hours scrubbing grout. These tiles paired with anthracite grout are perfect.

FAQ's
Slate effect tiles bring together rugged style and low-fuss living. You get that rich texture and depth but without the hassle, sealing or upkeep that comes with real slate. Let’s get into the questions that really matter when you’re choosing tiles.
Are slate effect tiles durable?
Absolutely. Our slate effect tiles are made from porcelain or ceramic, so they’re tough, hard-wearing and built for busy spaces. When used in kitchens, bathrooms, hallways or even outdoors, they can handle it.
Do they look like real slate?
They really do. Thanks to modern manufacturing techniques and textured finishes, you get that natural slate look. They have all the character and variation without the uneven surfaces or crumbly edges.
Can I use them in bathrooms and wet rooms?
Yes, they look amazing in those spaces. The natural stone look adds spa vibes, while the material keeps things water-resistant and easy to maintain.
Do slate effect tiles work outdoors?
Some do; just check the product details. Outdoor tiles are usually porcelain with high slip resistance. If you're tiling a patio, steps or porch, go for a tile that's specifically marked for outdoor use. They’re built to handle weather and wear without fading or flaking.
Do slate effect tiles need sealing?
No. Real slate needs sealing to stay protected from moisture and stains. Slate effect tiles already have a sealed, non-porous surface, so there’s nothing extra to do.
Which size should I choose?
Tile size sets the tone:
- Large format tiles (e.g. 600 by 600 or 600 by 900mm): Minimal grout lines, modern and clean.
- Mid-size (e.g. 300 by 600mm): A classic all-rounder for walls and floors.
- Small split face effect tiles: Great for feature walls when you want to add depth and drama.
